April 27th

Hi Everyone.

Thank you to those who sent me an email to let me know how you are doing. I worry about all of you and was grateful for the messages. For those of you who didn't, it is too late!!!!!!

Let me know what you have been up to - books, television, activities.

I am keeping busy. In my free time, I have put down a new floor in the basement and built a new fence in the back yard. I just finished reading A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman, and I am watching documentaries: Street Food in Asia, 72 Cutest Animals and 72 Dangerous Animals.

Any recommendations?!

Answers to yesterday's questions!

Symbiotic means Involving interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association.  Thank you Alanna and Meghan!

The symbiotic relationship between Australian animals and eucalyptus or gums trees after they have been hollowed (by termites) is that it provides habitat and food to the animals. Another example is the frilled lizard that lives in these hollow trees. The tree is not dead because of the large holes the termites make, so when the animals live inside they poop inside and the poop helps the tree grow bigger and stronger.
Thank you Alanna!

Good luck on tomorrow's math quiz!

Homework  for today - contact someone from the class that you have spoken to since we left. Make someones day and reach out to friends!

April 15th

Thank you to Elizabeth, Alanna, Teyah, and Sofia for answering yesterday's questions.
  1. Termite mounds are made mainly of saliva, feces, and clay.
  2. Termite mounds are found in many countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Brazil, and continents like Australia,  South America, and Africa.
  3. Vacuous definition: having or showing a lack of thought or intelligence; mindless

So now that we know, no more vacuous television! Right?!

Today's question.

What is the symbiotic relationship between Australian animals such as possums, parrots, pythons, and frilled lizard and eucalyptus or gums trees after they have been hollowed out in the centre by termites?

What does symbiotic mean?

Look forward to your emails.

April 14th

Some people are having technological issues at the moment and are not able to join us on google classroom. Reach out to each other and keep in touch with those who are not google classroom.

What is a termite mound made of? In what countries would you find termite mounds?

Keep reading every day. It's a great way to pass the time. Watch  documentaries - there are some great ones out there and it is a wonderful opportunity to watch tv and learn something at the same time. There is nothing to learn from the Kardashian family or from The Bachelor - except maybe how to be vacuous.

What does vacuous mean?

April 10th

Thank you Avesta and Meghan for answering yesterday's question - Why do rabbits and hares eat their own poop?

Rabbits eat their own poop because they need to this is because they can't get all the nutrients the first time they eat. So they eat their poop to get more of the valuable nutrients which they get from the digestion process and when is happens it creates small pellets that have the nutrients.

Happy Long Weekend!
