8A - Hello Everyone! I hope you are safe and doing your best to enjoy your time at home. I am sure that many of you, like me, are bored. I miss seeing all of you. I hope you are keeping in touch with each other. Friends are important! If you haven't been, that is about to change from next week. :)
Anyhow, it looks like we won't be seeing each other until at least May 4th. I am counting on being back on that date. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
So, starting from next week, we are going to try some online learning. This will be new for most of us. I am not sure what it is going to look like, but I know you have all been using google classroom for history, so we will probably be using that some of the time. I also expect to start posting more on this site and I am hoping we can find some video-conferencing service (like zoom), so that we can have some face to face conversations. If you have any suggestions, please share them. Internet service might be an issue for some of you, so we need to find a chat site as well. Suggestions? WhatsApp? Line? If you are not familiar with any of this, that is your homework over the next couple days. Talk with each other and share your thoughts and ideas. I would prefer to be in the classroom, but let's make this experience the best it can be.
In the meantime, send me your email address. I have spoken to your parents about this and everyone is on board. (If you are not comfortable with me sharing your email, please let me know and I will try to make other arrangements to keep you informed.) I would like to start the conversation with a group email. john.tovey@yrdsb.ca
If you have Netflix, Earth at Night is a great documentary. If not, check out the Nature of Things. This is a great Canadian documentary show. There was a very interesting episode recently about aging. Give it a watch. It will give you some insight into what's going on with me! ;)
Looking forward to touching base with all of you soon!
